Local Chapters
Christian Surfers is about local chapters fulfilling the vision and mission of Christian Surfers. These local chapters are involved in various ways in their communities. Building relationships through Bible studies, one-on-one discipleship, small groups, local outreaches, community service and, of course, surfing is the daily work of reaching out to surfers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
One of the ways CSCR reaches out is through surf contests. The Jaco chapter and CSCR hosts the yearly “Eternal Crown” surf contest in Jaco for locals and nationals with anywhere from 50-100 entrants and many on the beach watching. In addition, there are also local contests sponsored or supported by other local chapters at various times throughout the year. Mission teams and surf shops are welcome to help with sponsorship and coordinating/planning for these events. Contact our Missions Coordinator for more info.
Some chapters are also involved with local skateboarders. For example, the CSCR property in Jaco has a half-pipe skateboard ramp. The local Jaco chapter sponsors a skateboard contest 3-4 times a year while parents and friends of those who skate come to watch and enjoy the time as well. We also welcome mission teams to sponsor a contest as part of their ministry time. Contact our Missions Coordinator for more info.
Other local outreaches include beach clean-ups, clothes and toy distribution, BBQ’s at the beach, community service projects, ministry to youth, and learn to surf days. Some are sponsored solely by the local chapters, others by partnering with community organizations, churches and ministries so that we can be more effective in reaching out to those in need.
